There we were all comfy in Northern Arizona. Then someone had the bright idea that it was time for a change of scenery.
We stayed in Cottonwood for 10 days. Cottonwood is a town about 20 miles south of Sedona that has a great campground, Dead Horse State Park. Dead Horse is high desert and has great hiking and mountain biking trails. The weather was unseasonably cool for May, seventies during the day and forties at night, aka, “perfect”. The tourist areas of Old Cottonwood and Jerome have nice restaurants and allowed us to watch the BlackHawks sweep the Wild and head towards the Stanley Cup.
But travelers get restless. I thought we should head north. Grand Canyon was impossible without reservations so we headed northeast through a couple hundred miles of nowhere and went to Mesa Verde National Park in SW Colorado. Well we got our change! So far two days of rain and snow. When the sunshines, and we are not hunkered down in our shrinking Airstream, Mesa Verde is beautiful!
We are toughing it out and happy we are not in a tent! Laundry Day.
