O’Keeffe Country

May 7, 2016

We are northwest of Santa Fe.  This is known as Georgia O’Keefe country.  Maybe too much.  She didn’t discover it.  She just lived here and painted the beautiful scenery.  We hiked “Plaza Blanca” near Abiquiu (where O’Keeffe lived).

We toured Valles Caldera National Preserve, reminding me of the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone (without the bison).

Drove along some dirt roads reacquainting the Touareg with that fine red dust that gets everywhere.

We even got our own personal escort through Los Alamos.  I guess the Airstream was suspect.

In case you were worried, Rex is doing fine.

Looks beautiful! Glad you get to enjoy it first hand! Rex looks ready to rustle some sheep, probably the reason for the escort 🙂 :).

It was really good to hear from you last week. Thanks for calling. I hope to get back to Santa Fe and/or Taos before the end of the year. We love it there. We’re planning a Mediterranean cruise for October. Ron and I are en route today to Rochester to attend James’ graduation for his first doctorate. 🙂
